Grace, mercy and peace from Christ who is our Lord be with you all. Amen.

What do you think of change? Does anybody really like it? Not just change for the sake of change, but change for something better.

There are many things that we often want to change - ourselves, others around us, our lifestyle, sometimes our living situation.

As a pastor, sometimes you see things that you want to change, then there are the things that you would like to change, and then there are the things that you need to change.

Change can most certainly be scary, and facing and talking about change, even just thinking about change is scary.

Then you look at what we have done here at St. John’s. We have had a lot of change over the past, and most re-cently we changed denominations. And that was a scary bit of change.

And now we need to be really honest with ourselves. How do we want to see our church grow? In order for that to happen we need to seriously consider some additional changes. What change you may ask?

Well we need to finish putting together our constitution and by-laws. We need to establish our Call Committee, and then decide what you want in a pastor. There is the need to decide if you want someone full time or part time, and the accompanying compensation.

Then you need to decide what it is you want to do… and really want to do. Do we establish new community ministries, or do we look to enhance the ones that we have. Do we want to get further involved in the community or do we retreat to within ourselves.

And then do we decide to really go big, and start something completely different? Do we look into starting a day care. Be it either adult or kids. This could indeed be something that could be an income generating venture, as well as a community outreach. It would provide the additional benefit of utilizing the facility we have here as well.

Stay tuned we will have a town hall meeting after Easter to discuss this and more.

Peace, Pastor Paul
