Grace, mercy and peace be with you all. Amen.

Wow, what a long strange trip it’s been, is a line from a song from one of my favorite bands, The Grateful Dead. The journey with you, for me, started on March 17th, and continues. Thus far it has been a long strange trip. I officially started the work of shepherding the congregation on December 2nd, after the first Sunday of Advent, and have been working diligently to get caught up on what is going on with and in the life of the congregation.

I suppose that this is a good time for me to tell you what I plan on doing in the near future. First off, I plan on being in the office as much as possible, with my regularly scheduled office hours being set on Wednesday from 9 AM to 1 PM. It is during that time that you should be able to find me in the church office (unless there is some other pastoral situation that would require me to be elsewhere). However, I also plan on being in the office on or about the same hours during the rest of the week, but I will be doing my visitations and various meetings during these times as well, and you may not find me in the office.

The other thing that I plan on doing in the near future is to hold a town hall type of meeting to further get to know the congregation, you, the people of St. John’s, as well as learn what YOU perceive to be the concerns and issues facing St. John’s, and how together we can work to make St. John’s a strong and vibrant congregation proclaiming the Gospel in the community of Gibraltar and beyond.

Much beyond that, I do not plan on making any changes to the life and activity of St. John’s until I learn from you what you want the church to do, as simply having a new face in the pulpit is change enough for many.

I look forward to being your pastor and partnering with you in your faith journey. Please do no hesitate to call me (610-207-6252) or email me ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
