Grace mercy and peace be with you all, Amen.

We have a lot going on here at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

We have Rally day on September 7th, where many of us will be participating in the ice bucket challenge!  Not only I, but others, have volunteered to have buckets of ice water dumped on us, which you can get for a donation of $10.00!  All of this goes to the ALS Foundation.

Then, later in the month, we will have a visioning and planning meeting for all the members of the church.  I would like to ask all of you to come out to this meeting, and help the Church Council and me plan for the direction you believe the Lord is taking St. John’s.

Then there are various other events such as craft shows, and cookie swaps, and Bible Studies, and various other social gatherings that I would like to see us have.

All in all there is a lot to be excited about, not just the kids going back to school!

There is however one more thing.  In order for the church to grow, we need to talk about our faith, we need to share the reasons why we enjoy coming here each Sunday.  And we need to invite others, our friends, to join us.  It indeed can be difficult to talk to our friends about the two taboo topics, Politics and Religion, but really, if you enjoy coming to St. Johns, why would you want to keep that to yourself.  I can’t do it without you, and if you indeed enjoy things here, invite your friends.  Not just to Sunday worship, but also invite them to come out when we have the planning meeting.  I want to hear all of your ideas as to what YOU want to do.  We are all in this together, and we all have to enjoy what we do here.  So come on out, invite a friend or two and lets all enjoy worshiping our Lord together.

Peace, Pastor Paul D. Hansen
