Bible Verse of the Day

Matthew 1:20-21
“But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ?Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.?”

Grace mercy and peace be with you all. Amen.

I hope that you are all having a fun and safe enjoyable summer. I know that I am, my family and I have several short trips and one long trip planned for the summer, and then I leave for a short period of time with the Army.

These are stressful times, and it is indeed necessary for us to take a break and get away from the routine so that we can look at things with fresh eyes.

Our Lord Jesus did this several times (or tried to at least) in his ministry, and if it is good enough for our Lord Christ, well it should be good enough for us.

I do wish you all to consider a few things as you lay on the beach, or recline in the woods camping this summer. There are a variety of activities going on at the church this summer, and several more planned for the fall when everyone returns refreshed and renewed. And I would like your input for directions for us to go. We need to continually be evolving in our worship style, in our evangelism, in our Christian education, and our approach to the community around us. So as you are away this summer, take a look at the worship communities you visit, and take some of their ideas, and bring them back to us here at St. John’s in the late summer and the fall, and when we gather again late in the fall to talk about what new directions we want to see the church proceed, share those ideas that you gleaned as you traveled. Some of those ideas could be the next big thing here at St. John’s.

So as my wife keeps trying to remind me, “summer means short sermons”, so I will continue to try to apply that, and will end this summer letter here.

Blessings to you all and enjoy your summer.

Amen.

Pastor
