Bible Verse of the Day

Matthew 1:20-21
“But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ?Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.?”

AYP September 2015

Grace, mercy and peace be with you all. Amen.

The slower, more relaxed pace of the doldrums of summer are now waning, and the fall is starting to ramp up. As I write this, we are getting ready for Rally Day, and the potato fields are filled with potatoes and also are already being picked (which also means fresh french fries!). And church attendance is starting to creep up, and people are already starting to notice the cooler nights which soon will mean that people again will be complaining about how cold it is outside, as they forget how they were complaining how hot it was this summer.

Today school started for my oldest son, and my younger son has a few more days yet be-fore he starts, and I am not sure who is looking forward to that more... my son, his mother or myself. The start of school also brings us closer to the start of Sunday School, set to start on the 20th of September.

There are also more individuals this year interested in helping out with various aspects of our programs, along with starting new programs. For the first time we are offering a free community breakfast that will occur at the same time as our flea market. We are making plans for Thanksgiving Eve services, game nights (which I hope will eventually lead to as-sorted age youth groups that meet on a consistent basis), cookie baking and swaps, just to name a few things. I am also looking to host a church council retreat/seminar, as well as looking for dates for the next visioning and planning event to see where we go from here.

There are a lot of moving parts right now, and there is a fair bit of excitement here at St. John's, and as always I am open to coming to visit with you to talk about your ideas and learn more about what ideas you have for St. John's or if a visit does not fit your schedule, please do not hesitate to send me an email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or call me to chat (610-207-6252) as I would very much like to hear your ideas and learn what YOU want to see happen here at St. John's. So come on out and enjoy a fresh and free breakfast on the 12th and share some of your ideas with me.

I look forward to hearing from you all.
